IntelliGenetics uses DNA testing to determine if a set of twins are identical (monozygotic) or fraternal (dizygotic). Making up about thirty percent of all twins, identical twins have the same genetic makeup and therefore demonstrate identical DNA profiles. Fraternal twins on average share half their DNA, just like regular siblings such as a brother and sister born of the same parents. Fraternal twins, like regular siblings, have some similarities in their DNA profiles but not identical DNA profiles. Twin zygosity can be determined with greater than 99.9% certainty. We collect samples with a legal chain of custody and therefore your test results are court admissible. Test reports are generally provided in 7 to 10 days.
